It implies finding ways to make <em>data informed decisions<\/em> both in everyday life and in various contexts, according to personal or collective goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Data literacy includes <em>understanding<\/em> what data is and having an <em>awareness<\/em> and <em>attitude<\/em> towards non-neutrality\/biased data (collection, etc.). It implies having the skills to <strong>collect<\/strong>, <strong>select<\/strong>, <strong>store<\/strong>, <strong>preserve<\/strong> and <strong>manage<\/strong> data; analyse, evaluate, interpret, critique, apply, use, and work with data; and represent, visualise, and communicate stories from data. It also encompasses having the competence to ask and answer questions from data sets through an inquiry process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Furthermore, Data literacy means having the knowledge to <em>critically<\/em> make judgements and <em>interrogate<\/em> the claims accompanying data, including ethical and legal aspects that affect ones and other people\u2019s rights. It also includes the ability to use data as part of a design process, to solve problems, and to take decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The DALI Data Literacy Framework for Adults describes the competences that characterise a <strong>data literate citizen<\/strong>. In particular, it specifies the <em>knowledge &amp; skills<\/em> and the indicators of progressive levels of expertise (from basic to advanced) that can be addressed when developing courses, materials, or games for citizens.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.19.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span>The <strong>DALI Data Literacy Framework for Adults<\/strong> comprises <em>three<\/em> main elements: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Understanding Data<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Acting on Data<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Engaging Through Data<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>and a fourth transversal element: <strong>Ethics &amp; Privacy<\/strong>, of which aspects can be found in each of the three main elements.
